Flat Out Campers

Coming soon ....

Flat Out Campers builds custom layout flat-pack interiors, suited to most Australian vans and vehicles.

We’re not quite ready to launch our full website yet, but are still open to working with DIY van builders on their designs. Check out first what custom means, and if it’s a match, reach out to us at info@flatoutcampers.com.au.

Our website should be ready in a few months time.

Custom means the ability to shape your layout so it suits the way you travel, without creating overly complex, decorative, or high-cost builds.

You create a layout that suits. We’ll build it as a flat pack for you to install.

A camper that feels likeyours, without the price tag of a fully bespoke fitout.

A custom layoutdoesn’t mean a mix of materials, ornate cabinetry, or decorative features. This adds complexity, weight, and cost.

We intentionally avoid:

  • Highly decorative joinery
  • Complex shapes or detailing
  • Time-consuming finishes that slow production
  • Exhaustive colour pallets or material choices

Most camper interiors on the market are built around fixed layouts from fixed ideas of how peopleshould travel. We take a different approach.

We keep things deliberately simple – styles, finishes, materials, and colours. Yes, because it’s easier, quicker and more cost effective to produce, but it also brings better outcomes.

Where we don’t compromise is on layout.

Layout matters more than almost anything else in a small space. How you move, cook, sleep, store gear, work, pack up, and wind down after a long day has a huge impact on how enjoyable your travels are. That’s why we focus on giving you a layout that suits the wayyou travel – not forcing you into a pre-set design that almost works.

We’re travellers ourselves, so we understand how important it is to only carry what you need. Space is precious, and every cupboard, bench, and panel should earn its place. Smart layouts reduce clutter, improve usability, and make life on the road more enjoyable.

Our approach is backed by experience. With over 20 years building and repairing vans, caravans, and motorhomes – including work on some of the top brands in the industry, we’ve seen what holds up over time and what falls off, cracks, and leaks once the kilometres add up.

We’ve repaired the shortcuts so we understand where simplicity outperforms complexity.

That’s why our flat packs are produced the way they are.

Easy to install, built to last, and designed for life on the road – not just the highlights reel.

We’re not trying to be an e-commerce store.

This is your build and sweat equity, so it needs to be right.

You’ll start online, but you won’t end up dealing with a checkout page or an automated system. You’ll work with a person. Someone who owns a van, has lived in a van, and has spent decades building and repairing them.

From the start, we’re upfront about what we will and won’t produce, what works in a small space with weight restrictions, and where compromises make sense. We’ll help you refine the layout, then produce clear 3D renderings so you know exactly what you’re approving before anything is cut.

Once signed off, your interior is manufactured on our CNC machine for accuracy, consistency, and an install that any handy DIYer can manage.

Ideally, you’ll collect your flat pack from our Ballina workshop. That gives us the chance to walk you through the install in person and answer any last-minute questions.

After collection, we also include an hour of our time – on us. Use it to ask questions about the install, or anything else van-related like solar, plumbing, or electrical. It’s our way of backing you through the final steps and saying thanks for trusting us with your build.

Allow two to four weeks for design, and four to six weeks from final sign-off until it’s ready for collection or freight.

Sometimes it’s quicker, depending on workload and where we’re at between builds.

We’ll always be upfront about timing before you lock anything in.
